BIC appoints new CEO
A ceremony heralding Mr Ton’s appointment was held at BIDV Tower, 35 Hang Voi on April 27 with the attendance of Mr Pham Dinh Trong, Deputy Head of Insurance Control and Management Department, the Ministry of Finance, and other officers of the Insurance Control and Management Department and the Association Insurance of Vietnam. The ceremony was also attended by Mr Tran Bac Ha, Chairman of BIDV, members of the Board of Directors, Supervisory Board and Board of Managers of BIDV, and other officers from related BIDV and BIC divisions.
The change in the top BIC managing position represents a breakthrough in the corporation’s development, following its transformation into a joint stock company. The change in personnel also separates the governance and management of BIC, to meet the customs and practice of modern corporate governance.
Mr Ton Lam Tung has many years of experience in banking and finance. Before joining BIC, he was Deputy Head of Credit Department I – Credit Division of BIDV. At BIC, Tung occupied the positions of Head of the Hanoi Business Department, Head of the Investment Department, Deputy Director, and First Deputy General Director. According to Document 069/QD-HDQT, Tung officially took over the responsibility of BIC Acting Chief Executive Officer from April 28, 2011.
