According to the Bac Kan Provincial Forest Protection Department, in Cho Moi, Ba Be districts and Bac Kan city, there are currently more than 8,700 hectares of special-use forests, 22,500 hectares of protection forests and more than 87,700 hectares of production forests. Special-use and protection forests are mainly concentrated in Ba Be district of Ba Be National Park and forest management boards.

Pursuant to Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BNNPTNT dated November 16^th, 2018 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development regulating forest valuation methods; forest price framework and Decision No. 810/QD-UBND dated May 08^th, 2020 of Bac Kan Provincial People's Committee approving the forest pricing plan, building the forest price bracket in Ba Be, Cho Moi districts and Bac Kan city; The Bac Kan Provincial Forest Protection Department coordinates with the consulting unit, Forestry Information System Joint Stock Company (FIS), to carry out an external investigation, synthesize and calculate to issue an explanatory report on the forest price bracket in Ba Be, Cho Moi districts and Bac Kan city.

The above explanatory report was submitted for appraisal through the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Finance, the Department of Justice... for approval. On May 20^th, 2022, the People's Committee of Bac Kan City issued Decision No. 17/2022/QD-UBND regulating the price framework of all types of forests in 03 districts and cities: Bac Kan city, Cho Moi district and Ba Be district. The price framework for forests of all types is determined, including: the price bracket for protection, special-use and production forests being natural forests and the price bracket for protection and production forests being planted forests.

Accordingly, for protection natural forests, the price is calculated from 6.8 million VND/ha to 380 million VND/ha; For special-use forests, the forest price is in the range of 7.0 million VND/ha to 688 million VND/ha. The price of production forests is from 8.1 million VND/ha to 387 million VND/ha. Forest prices vary according to reserves and forest status.

For planted forests, depending on the species of trees and the age of the forest, the price is different. Protective fat plantation is priced from 43.2 million VND/ha to 443 million VND/ha; production oil plantations are priced from 53.2 million VND/ha to 656.7 million VND/ha. Protection Slat plantation forest from 91.6 million VND/ha to 1260.1 million VND/ha. The price of Lat planted forest ranges from 144 million VND/ha to 1650 million. Pine forests are planted from 49.3 million VND/ha to 681.5 million VND/ha.

The results of "Forest pricing, building forest price framework in the districts of Ba Be, Cho Moi and Bac Kan city" are an important source of data to help forestry managers and policy researchers have a scientific and practical basis to develop regulations,  orientations and solutions in policy making related to forests and forestry land; as a basis for calculating money in the following cases: The State allocates forests, leases forests, liquidates forests, recovers forests when implementing investment projects on socio-economic development, organizes auctions of forest use rights, calculates forest values when making payments for forest environment services; at the same time, determine the value of contributed capital and compensation when committing acts of violating the law causing damage to forests.
