Sustainable forest management plan at the Nam Song Ba Protection Forest Management Board, a long-term direction for forest protection and development

Around the world, forests are home to more than 300 million people, and provide essential services such as food and fresh water to an additional 1.3 billion people. In Vietnam, there are millions of people who directly depend on forests. These are often the communities that understand forests best and are also important in helping find the best way to protect forests for future generations. The plan offers many solutions in many aspects:

  • Regarding management, human resources must ensure reasonable arrangement, appropriate qualifications, education, and training of staff to meet work tasks, and this team will also be a guide. Local people about techniques for planting, caring for, and exploiting forests according to sustainable forest management criteria. Coordinate with local communities, through understanding the needs of local communities regarding forest resources;
  • Reduce or replace activities of collecting precious medicinal herbs and hunting small animals; Provide reasonable solutions for activities that encroach on forestry land for farming purposes; Meanwhile, activities of collecting forest products such as vegetables, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, bamboo, leeks, fish, and shrimp can guide people according to conventions for sustainable use in appropriate forests. For violations of the Forestry Law... there must be strong, drastic, deterrent measures and demonstrate the severity of the Law. Encourage people to switch from small wood production and business to large wood and non-wood forest products; Focus on trading in planted forest timber using silvicultural solutions.
  • Scientific and technological solutions also play an important role in ensuring the goal of sustainable forest development. Improve and apply high-tech technologies in forest resource management, closely monitor ecological succession, biodiversity, forest growth and regeneration.
  • Capital and market solutions are also a stepping stone for sustainable forest management activities to take place smoothly and effectively. Seek additional funding from other sustainable forest management projects. Cooperate with businesses inside and outside the province to provide raw materials, processing supplies and stable outlets for output products.

Thus, sustainable forest management applies integrated forest management measures. Reasonable use and maintenance of protection activities coupled with continuous and stable production to create valuable forest products and services for development without reducing genetic values ​​and diversity. biodiversity and productivity and quality of forests, while not causing negative impacts on the natural and social environment. Sustainable forest management builds a future in which people live in harmony with nature.
