Determining sustainable forestry development, enhancing livelihoods, improving forest coverage, and adapting to climate change is one of the four key tasks of Gia Lai province. Therefore, to ensure the above contents, the sustainable forest management plan of Xa Nam Protection Forest Management Board was developed and completed by Forestry Information System Joint Stock Company (FIS).

According to the plan, the Board continues to stabilize the management area, determine the area of ​​natural production forests that need to be managed, protected, limited or not exploited for forest products; Allocating forest protection to households and communities in the area.

Plans to protect and develop forests are also put in place. In which: Protecting the entire existing forest area; Develop regulations on measures to protect forests and delineate ecologically valuable areas; Coordinate with local authorities to develop measures to prevent deforestation, forest encroachment, and forest fire prevention plans.

Plan to plant new forests on land planned for protection and production forests with mainly native tree species, Acacia auriculiformis, Eucalyptus globulus Labill, etc. The Board also has a plan to nurture protective planted forests. The Board will also cooperate with local businesses to develop medicinal areas under the forest canopy with Wurfbainia longiligularis, Codonopsis pilosula, Polyscias Fruticosa...

The unit develops a training plan and improves professional qualifications for officers and skills for workers working in forest protection through opening short-term training courses such as: Fire prevention training; nature conservation work; Update developments in forest resources.

In sustainable forest management, people's participation is one of the important factors that helps implement the contents of the sustainable forest management plan more effectively. Activities that people here can participate in and benefit from include: afforestation, care, tree nursery, exploitation, collection of non-timber forest products, hired or contracted jobs for restoration work. Forestry services: contracting for digging holes, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and preventing pests and diseases for forestry trees; some activities in forest fire prevention; animal care and rescue. Along with that, the Board develops a research plan and considers exploiting areas with ecotourism potential. This is also an activity that both preserves the ecosystem here and brings revenue and jobs to the local community.

In summary, the implementation of a sustainable forest management plan has specific goals and plans to overcome some shortcomings in the effective management, protection and use of forest resources, and provide technical support to people. create more jobs for local workers to participate.
